Austin's First-Ever Affordable Art Fair is Coming!
The inaugural Affordable Art Fair in Austin, set for May 16-19, 2024, at the Palmer Events Center, is a much-anticipated event that aims to make art accessible to all, and Art From the Streets is extremely thrilled to be a part of it. With artworks ranging from $100 to $10,000, the fair will feature 60 local, national, and international galleries, offering a diverse array of contemporary art. It's not just about viewing and buying art—the fair will host various events including exclusive evenings, family mornings, and educational panels, providing a comprehensive cultural experience. This event presents a unique opportunity for first-time buyers and seasoned art collectors alike to engage with the art community, discover new artists, and possibly find the perfect piece of art at an affordable price.
In order to provide even more value for those on a budget, the fair is also excited to bring patrons a special collection of artworks that are priced under both $500 and $1,000 throughout the entire fair. These pieces are easily identifiable since they will be marked with a pink sticker.
Visitors also will have the chance to engage with the actual artists themselves, as we encourage all artists to engage with the visitors who are admiring their work. This will allow visitors to essentially form a much deeper understanding of the artistic process itself, as well as a genuine appreciation for the stories that are depicted in each piece.
One of the most exciting parts of the fair will be in The Barminski Lounge, where Chicago-based artist and filmmaker Bill Barminski will be on hand to encourage visitors to step into his immersive world, where visitors can become part of the art itself as well as take a masterpiece home with you the same day! Barminski himself has contributed to multiple groundbreaking projects such as Beyond the Streets and Banksy's Dismaland, as well as various music video animations for bands such as Gnarls Barkley and Death Cab for Cutie.
The fair will also be an amazing opportunity for young children as well, with plenty of things to help drive their imagination! Family Hours will take place between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM on May 18, where KIDO Preschools will feature a brand new activity every 20 minutes that both parents and children alike can participate in. In the event visitors are unable to make it on this date, there's no need to worry – all children under 16 years of age will be able to attend for free no matter when parents can attend; however, please make sure all children still have a ticket.
