Art From the Streets to Host Green Envy Gallery Show
Art From the Streets is hosting a new gallery show! “Green Envy” will be an amazing show, right on the heels of the very successful “Out of the Blue” art show. It will be a celebration of color, with a specific focus on the color green.
The color green has been used in artistic endeavors since the early 3000s BC, by the Ancient Egyptians who created a pigment with the hue by using metal soaked in a special solution; that pigment is called verdigris. More and more people experimented with creating the color green in different ways in the centuries to follow--some progress was made during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, but with mixed results. Though green was notoriously associated with sickness and toxicity for a period later in its history, it has since grown into a beloved color that now is most commonly aligned with nature and the verdant freshness of new plant growth. Green is associated with renewal, life, and feelings of serenity and calmness.
Would you like to experience the rich beauty of the color green at a local Austin art gallery? If so, consider taking advantage of free events like art shows in Austin, including the “Green Envy” art show at the Art From the Streets (AFTS) gallery. You will have the opportunity to enjoy this extraordinary show on June 4, 2022, between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm; this date is the first of two public presentations of the “Green Envy” show. (The second and last time to enjoy this Austin art gallery show is on July 2, 2022, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.). Visit the AFTS gallery, located in the Canopy community of creatives in East Austin (916 Springdale Road, Bldg. 2, #105). Art From the Streets is an Austin-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established in 1991 to give transient people a way to develop as artists and to use their creativity to climb out of homelessness. Purchasing artwork supports the artists directly. Donating to our program helps us to offer a free Open Studio for the homeless and at risk.
